Tiger on Tour!

Spent a couple of hours at Kinver Edge on Monday with ongoing battle against the tide of Himalayan Balsam.  Although daunting when faced with the jungle, it is a satisfying task.  Last year one area was completely cleared in the attempt to return the land to its natural heathland.  Recurrent ingress of the invader has been prevented by the use of cattle grazing the heathland areas.  Apparently they are very fond of Himalayan Balsam so are an effective means of control.IMG_1990.JPGArea tackled before … and after …

IMG_1993.JPGI then took a wander amongst the heather – lots of Gatekeepers, Meadow Browns and several Small Coppers about.
